In the Brain and Education Lab researchers examine the development of cognitive processes involved in learning and reading comprehension from childhood to adulthood. Special attention is given to the development of inference making, the integration of information, comprehension monitoring processes, and the role of the development of cognitive control functions. The goals of the research program are to identify the cognitive and neuro-cognitive processes that take place during learning and the development of reading comprehension –both when they succeed and when they fail-, to come to a theoretical understanding of the interrelations and development of these processes, and to eventually contribute to the development of effective diagnostic and intervention tools.
